1. I think that the video is cute but I don't like the message "Don't think dirty". I say: think freely - dirty or clean - doesn't really matter as long as it's original, interesting, moving.
2. The video is a gimmick - the illustrations are cute but not much more - it's like the first "dirty" jokes we tell as children.
3. I'm very happy and proud that Shir cares enough about this course to send materials for the Blog - What about everyone else?

After viewing your exceptional studies on colour!!!
I think you need to do a bit more research....

In order to plan and carry out research, it is necessary for you to
know what we mean by research-in general, as well as in the
specialized fields of language teaching and language acquisition.

Research is an ORGANIZED and SYSTEMATIC way of FINDING ANSWERS to
QUESTIONS.

1. SYSTEMATIC because there is a definite set of procedures and stepswhich you will follow. There are certain things in the research process which are always done in order to get the most accurate results.
   
   
2. ORGANIZED in that there is a structure or method in going about doing research. It is a planned procedure, not a spontaneous one. It is focused and limited to a specific scope.
   
   
3. FINDING ANSWERS is the end of all research. Whether it is the answer to a hypothesis or even a simple question, research is successful when we find answers. Sometimes the answer is no, but it is still an answer.
   
   
4. QUESTIONS are central to research. If there is no question, then the answer is of no use. Research is focused on relevant, useful, and important questions. Without a question, research has no focus, drive, or purpose.
   

Now to your poster studies homework:
You were given information on the procedures of how to plan and create a poster, so on monday we would like you to present us with 3 A4 poster sketches based on your colour research and 2 A3 sheets with your research material: photos, notes, colour ideas, paint
techniques, materials, ideas etc so that we can see your ideas that have led you to your poster sketches.

On next Thursday we would like you to bring the finished research poster so come prepared on monday with all your material.

Exercise 8 – "It's not all black and white"

On the fourth day God creates the Sun and Moon and all the Stars to differentiate between the day and the night. How do you differentiate between day and night? How do your moods/feelings/expressions change as light fades into night?

Requirements

This amazing world envelops us in a myriad of colors that invoke a wide range of different responses (emotional, intellectual, associative, contextual, etc.)

Create a color Triptych* composed of three formats that portray the transition of your day in to your night. Technique is free however the triptych must be at least 120cm wide (note than a triptych’s middle panel is normally larger than the two “wings” on the sides)

Notes

Look at the notes given and take into consideration the transformations in the three pieces - not only colour changes, but maybe shapes, compositions, elements and the feelings your images portray.

* Triptych - a work of art (usually a panel painting or relief) divided into three sections, which are hinged together and fold. The middle panel is the larger one, and flanked by two lesser, related works.

Requirements

• Recreate and improve your series describing the process of sprouting, being born, budding, etc.
• Use color to emphasize the process your series describes
• Every one of the five panels should be exactly 20*60 cm.
• You may use any technique for this project.

Notes

1. The final series is the focus of this exercise. See the images attached - they are examples of projects done as series in a different exercise. Create the sketches for the project in this context.
2. How do the five panels become more than the sum of their parts?
3. How are they displayed on the wall?
4. What is the relation between them?
5. What stays the same, what changes?
6. Make a test for the technique you are using.

On the second part of the third day of creation God brings forth the grass out of the land.

Mother Teresa once said:

“See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...we need silence to be able to touch souls.”

" We need silence to be able to touch souls" - This is true for design and art as it is for spiritual work. No big surprise here since Art is spiritual work...
